Henrietta (Neicam) Weill and EAWI

Henrietta (Neicam) Weill was born in/near Alsace-Lorraine  in 1854. She was married to Ernest A. Weill I (also born in/near Alsace-Lorraine around 1860) and they emigrated to the U.S. together.  I do not have a picture of EAW that I know of, but I do have one of Henrietta.

Henrietta is the mother of Ernest A. Weill II, Anna (Weill) Johnston, Lawrence Weill, and Joseph Weill. She also had a little boy Henry who died in childhood. She passed away in 1938. Ernest died in 1900 visiting back in Alsace-Lorraine.  I have no parent info for EAWI. EDIT: According to my Uncle Larry, EAWI father was named August. Will have to do more research on that one!

Henrietta's parents are John Neicam (1827-1904) and Ann Elizabeth "Lisettie" (Ruprecht) Neicam (1829-1890), born in Germany/Bavaria.

Both of the headstone pics and some of the accompanying info was found on findagrave.com which has really a lot of our family catalogued there.

Also, I'm wondering if a flickr account isn't in order since I have SO many documents and pictures to share with you all.  Your thoughts on the matter, please?

  2. Some new (and corrected)info: The following is according to History of Daviess County, Kentucky, originally published in 1883, reprinted in 1980. I think Leon L.. may be Uncle Lawrence, father of Beau: “Ernest Weill, son of Leon and Matilda (Herman) Weill, was born March 26, 1848, in Rosieres aux Salines, Dept. of Meurthe, France. He attended school in his native country, and finished his education by a three years’ term in London. From this latter place he emigrated to America, in 1868, locating in Owensboro, where he has since lived. His father died in 1862, and he left his mother in the old country. On arriving in Owensboro he engaged in clerking over a year, and then, in partnership with Mr. Hirsch, opened a clothing store and continued five years. The partnership was then dissolved, and in 1876 Mr. Weill took a trip across the water to visit his native land. When he returned, he resumed business at the corner of Main and Allen streets, the present location on Main street, between Frederica and St. Ann. He has a large clothing establishment, and does a good manufacturing business. He was married in 1878 to Herrietta Neicam, a native of Daviess County. They have three children – Leon L., Joseph and Henry. He is a member of the A.F. & A.M. and I. O. O. F. Postoffice, Owensboro. “

  3. Some interesting stuff. I have not heard these bits before and may try to get a copy of the book for my own reference. It seems like I have to read these things many times before i can really grasp them!
